“‘YOU’VE SEEN THEM BEFORE… BUT NOT LIKE THIS’ — THE LINCOLN LAWYER SEASON 5 IS QUIETLY STACKING ITS CAST WITH SURPRISING NEW FACES!” As filming officially kicks off once again and Mickey Haller returns to the driver’s seat, what seems like a routine production update is quickly turning into something far more intriguing — with familiar actors from other hit shows stepping into this world in unexpected ways. What looks like simple casting news is now sparking curiosity about how these additions might reshape the tone, the cases, and the dynamics of the story moving forward. Behind the scenes, subtle hints about their roles are already raising questions about whether they’ll become allies, rivals, or something far more complicated in Mickey’s next chapter. And as anticipation builds toward the show’s return, one question begins to surface… are these new faces just part of the journey… or the key to a storyline fans won’t see coming?

The Lincoln Lawyer season 5 rounds out recurring cast with High Potential, The Office stars

Mickey Haller has officially put his keys in the ignition once again! The Lincoln Lawyer season 5 kicked off filming in Los Angeles in March 2026, which comes shortly after the season 4 release in February and sets the beloved Netflix legal drama for a speedy return in 2027. But we have some new details about the upcoming season, including who we will be seeing on screen.

The Lincoln Lawyer. (L to R) Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Mickey Haller, Becki Newton as Lorna Crane in episode 304 of The Lincoln Lawyer

As we already know, Cobie Smulders guest starred in The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 finale and will now be a series regular in season 5. While she played a character named Allison J. Haller in the finale, Deadline has confirmed that her character’s actual name is Emi Finch. Her name might have changed, but Smulders’ character is still playing the half-sister Mickey never knew he had.

In addition to Smulders, The Lincoln Lawyer season 5 cast grows with eight new recurring guest stars, many of whom have familiar faces. Reba and High Potential star Steve Howey will recur (he’s also set to appear in Ransom Canyon season 2 on Netflix), as will Orange Is the New Black alum Diane Guerrero, and memorable The Office guest star Chris Diamantopoulos.’The Lincoln Lawyer: Netflix's Legal Drama That Blends Bosch & Suits

Fans of the comedy will remember Diamantopoulos as Brian, the boom mic operator from the documentary crew that got friendly with Pam, but the actor has a much bigger connection with a particular star of Netflix’s legal drama. In real life, Diamantopoulos is married to Becki Newton, who plays everyone’s favorite Elle Woods-esque lawyer-in-training Lorna Crane.

Take a closer look at all of the new cast members and who they will play:

  • Cobie Smulders as Emi Finch
  • Diane Guerrero as Natalia
  • Teresa Maria as Tina Perez
  • Richard Cabral as Benny Perez
  • Steve Howey as Brian Cunningham
  • Patty Guggenheim as Allison Finch
  • Corbin Bernsen as Richard Finch
  • Chris Diamantopoulos as Frank Silver
  • Iker Garcia as Rafa Wagner

The features other familiar faces, like Corbin Bernsen from LA Law and Psych and Patty Guggenheim from She-Hulk and Twisted Metal. Both of their characters share a last name with Smulders’, which suggests that they are related. Since Mickey and Emi would have the same father, Bernsen’s Richard Finch would likely be her stepfather, but we’ll have to wait and find out their connection.

Netflix's The Lincoln Lawyer Officially Doubles Down On Its Bosch Replacement

Deadline confirms that season 4 series regular, Neve Campbell, has once again returned to recurring status. The Scream star began her role as Maggie McPherson in a series regular capacity, but she only returned full-time in season 4. Krista Warner, Angelica Maria, and Gigi Zumbado are also confirmed to recur as Mickey’s daughter Hayley, Mickey’s mother Elena, and Izzy’s girlfriend Gigi.

Based on Resurrection Walk, Michael Connelly’s seventh book in his Mickey Haller series, The Lincoln Lawyer season 5 finds Mickey seemingly teaming up with his half-sister. Emi asks for Mickey’s assistance with freeing a woman who has been wrongfully convicted, something he almost learned about all too well firsthand in season 4. But as always, the case unravels into danger.

In addition to tackling a case with Emi, season 5 also looks to continue the ongoing thread from season 4 involving Mickey’s near-miss murder charge. The team continues to work to get justice for what happened to Mickey during his trial, but the corruption only seemingly continues, as Deadline teases. It’s sure to be another season that will leave us on the edge of our seats!
