Besiktas have reportedly ended their pursuit of Mohamed Salah after negotiations with the Liverpool icon’s representatives reached a standstill, according to club director Onder Ozen.

According to Ozen, the situation changed after July 21, when financial demands reportedly created difficulties in reaching an agreement.

“When the financial side began, the positive progress started to slow down. Requests began to arrive that affected the process and eventually created a deadlock,” he explained.

The Besiktas director suggested that Salah himself may not have been fully aware of all aspects of the negotiations handled by his representatives.

“I can assume that an athlete as respected as Salah was not aware of everything happening during this process,” Ozen added.

Club Refuses to Increase Offer

Despite the breakdown in talks, Besiktas insisted that their proposal remains available if Salah’s representatives decide to reconsider.

However, Ozen made it clear that the Turkish club would not improve their offer or change their financial structure to complete the deal.

“Besiktas has its own policy, and we cannot move away from that,” he said.

“Our president has clearly defined the club’s position and has remained committed to it.”

Ozen emphasized that the offer presented by Besiktas was carefully designed to protect the club’s financial stability and identity.

“I do not have the authority to simply say yes or no. The offer made by Besiktas under our conditions is clear. If there is a response to that offer, then it can be evaluated.”

“But Besiktas will not make another offer. We have already reached the final point that does not damage the identity of this club.”
