Prince William Has ‘No Interest at All’ in Speaking to Prince Harry, Insider Says

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle managed to achieve some of the goals they had hoped for during their recent return to the United Kingdom. They met with King Charles and Harry also took part in the Invictus Games. However, according to Bronte Coy, senior royal correspondent for news.com.au, the trip was far from smooth and was surrounded by a series of controversies and disagreements.

Coy, who was among the journalists reporting on the Sussexes’ plans to return to Britain as a family, described the overall visit as chaotic. She said that anyone who had followed the events closely would probably agree that the trip sometimes resembled a “circus.”

Despite the turmoil, Coy believes Harry and Meghan ultimately achieved one of their most important objectives: meeting with King Charles. The encounter was viewed as a potentially significant step toward repairing the strained relationship between Harry and his father.

However, the path to that meeting was complicated. Disagreements over security arrangements and accommodation created repeated headlines. Matters became even more difficult when the court delivered its ruling in Harry’s long-running legal battle over his security arrangements in the UK.

According to Coy, the timing could hardly have been worse for Harry. The verdict arrived on the first day of his scheduled activities in Britain and represented a major setback for the Duke of Sussex. She believes the disappointing ruling contributed to the drama that continued throughout the rest of his visit.

Harry Appears Most Comfortable at Invictus

While the trip itself was controversial, Coy said there was one environment in which Harry appeared completely at ease: the Invictus Games.

Having covered the event in Birmingham, she observed that Harry seemed to thrive when surrounded by members of the Invictus community. Regardless of the criticism surrounding him, she believes he is particularly effective in that setting because it represents something deeply personal to him.

Invictus, she explained, is Harry’s community and an area where he clearly feels comfortable and purposeful. His participation therefore allowed him to accomplish one of the key objectives of his visit.

The difficulty, however, came from everything surrounding his public appearances.

Coy argued that Harry and Meghan repeatedly allow themselves to become part of the very drama that their critics accuse them of creating. She suggested that the couple could benefit from exercising greater restraint, particularly when dealing with sensitive issues involving the Royal Family.

In her view, the continuing public disputes have created a “soap opera” around the Sussexes. Each new disagreement, statement or controversy can fuel further criticism and distract attention from the causes and activities they are trying to promote.

A Royal Apology May Never Happen

For years, there has been speculation that Harry and Meghan wanted an apology from members of the Royal Family before a full reconciliation could take place. However, Coy does not believe such an apology has happened.

More importantly, she doubts that a major public apology will ever be forthcoming.

She suggested that the idea may now have been quietly abandoned because neither side appears willing to take that step. In particular, Coy believes there is virtually no prospect of Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, offering the kind of apology the Sussexes may once have expected.

According to what Coy says she has been hearing from sources, William currently has little or no desire to communicate with his younger brother. She also claimed that there have been attempts from Harry’s side to improve relations in recent years, but they have not succeeded.

Coy acknowledged that the situation is deeply unfortunate, given the brothers’ former closeness. Nevertheless, she believes the relationship has reached a point where expectations of a traditional reconciliation may no longer be realistic.

There is also another major obstacle: Harry’s relationship with Queen Camilla.

Coy pointed to Harry’s previous public comments about Camilla as an important barrier to reconciliation. Harry has previously expressed strong feelings about his stepmother, and Coy believes those remarks have made it harder for the King to move forward.

King Charles, she noted, is deeply devoted to his wife. Consequently, criticism directed toward Camilla is likely to remain a sensitive issue within the family.

Interestingly, Coy believes the conflict may partly stem from a similar characteristic shared by Harry, William and Charles. She argued that all three men are highly protective of the women they love.

Harry has consistently presented himself as someone determined to protect Meghan. At the same time, William and Charles have their own strong instinct to protect their respective partners. This shared trait may help explain why each side has found it difficult to compromise.

For that reason, Coy does not expect either side to issue a major apology anytime soon. Instead, she believes the family may need to accept the current reality and find another way to coexist.

In other words, she thinks it may be time for everyone involved to move toward a “Plan B.”

Martha Stewart Adds Another Complication

Just when the situation appeared to be settling down, another unexpected development attracted attention.

Martha Stewart reportedly mentioned during an interview with People magazine that Meghan had spoken at a dinner party about her recent trip to Britain and referred to “the palace.”

Coy said she was surprised by the revelation because it did not come from an anonymous royal source or a chain of secondhand reports. Instead, the comment came directly from Martha Stewart, making it much harder to dismiss or explain away.

Coy does not necessarily believe Stewart intended to cause trouble. She suggested that Stewart may simply have been unaware of how significant the remark could become in the context of the Sussexes’ ongoing relationship with the Royal Family.

Nevertheless, the reference to “the palace” was notable.

According to Coy, the King’s meeting with Harry was supposed to represent an early stage in rebuilding trust. After years of public disagreements, both sides would presumably need to demonstrate discretion and restraint if they wanted their relationship to improve.

That is why seemingly casual comments can become problematic. If information about the meeting or the visit reaches the public through other people, it could make the Royal Family more cautious about future private interactions.

For Coy, rebuilding trust requires both sides to demonstrate that sensitive conversations can remain private.

Is Megxit Really Being Reversed?

Harry’s increasingly warmer relationship with his father has also led to speculation that the Sussexes could eventually reverse their decision to step away from royal duties.

Coy, however, believes that a complete reversal is highly unlikely.

She stressed that there is no realistic scenario in which Harry and Meghan simply return to their former roles as working royals. She also does not expect British taxpayers to fund their activities in the UK in the way they might support full-time members of the Royal Family.

Most importantly, Coy does not see a future in which Meghan works alongside William and Catherine as part of the official royal structure.

A more realistic possibility, she suggested, would involve Harry developing a closer working relationship with his father while maintaining his independent status.

Harry could potentially spend more time in Britain and become more involved with charitable causes and patronages that are important to him. Such a scenario could allow him to maintain a connection with the country without formally returning to the Royal Family as a working member.

However, security remains an important issue. Any significant increase in Harry’s time in Britain would likely depend partly on whether he can resolve his concerns regarding protection while in the UK.

Harry May Still Miss Britain

Despite his life in California, Coy believes Harry still has a strong emotional connection to Britain.

She said that people close to Harry have indicated that he genuinely wants to maintain a relationship with the UK, particularly in recent years. Coy acknowledged that such reports often generate strong reactions, but emphasized that she was describing what she had reportedly heard rather than expressing her own personal opinion.

Harry and Meghan have established a comfortable life in Montecito, California. Their lifestyle there offers privacy, luxury and distance from the intense scrutiny associated with the Royal Family.

Nevertheless, Coy believes that comfort alone may not satisfy Harry indefinitely. She suggested that a person also needs a sense of purpose, motivation and meaningful work.

Harry appears to find much of that purpose through projects such as the Invictus Games and his charitable interests. Britain could therefore continue to play an important role in his professional and personal life, even if he never formally returns as a working royal.

Meghan, however, appears to have a very different relationship with the UK.

Coy said she finds it difficult to imagine Meghan wanting to return to Britain in an official, permanent or even semi-permanent capacity. The couple may therefore continue to live primarily in the United States while Harry maintains a more active connection with Britain.

Ultimately, the future of the Sussexes’ relationship with the Royal Family remains uncertain. A complete reconciliation may be unlikely, particularly between Harry and William, but a more limited and practical relationship could still develop.

Rather than restoring the past, the family may have to accept that their relationships have fundamentally changed and find a new way to move forward.
