Meghan & Kids Will NOT Join Harry in London Over Security Fears – Casting Doubt on a Face-to-Face Meeting with King
MEGHAN, Archie and Lilibet will NOT join Harry in central London next week due to security reasons – throwing into doubt the chance Charles will meet his grandchildren.
The Duchess was due to carry out her first engagement in the capital since before Megxit in March 2020 at a London hospital with Harry.
Harry is at a mystery location in Europe with his wife and children “still looking at options” to make the visit work “in some form”.
But the California-based pair have decided Meghan and the children – if they come at all – will not be in London.
It comes a week after the Sussexes said they were reassessing their plans 24 hours after an itinerary was announced – because they had lost a bid for official taxpayer-funded security.
Plans are still being discussed for Meghan to attend the one-year out Invictus Games bash at Birmingham’s NEC at the end of the week.
The decision not to take Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, into London, makes it less likely they can meet the King for the first time in four years.
Charles has a string of engagements in London and across England next week.

A source said: “There was an event planned for both the Duke and Duchess to attend an Invictus Games engagement at a London hospital but owing to security reasons the Duke will attend alone.”
The Sun revealed last month that the King had made available a royal home to Harry and Meghan and the children – believed to be Buckingham Palace which comes with existing security.
Royal Household sources this week told The Sun they were “weary” and “wary” about the ever-changing plans for Harry and his family’s return.
In January, we revealed Harry wanted to bring his family for the long-planned trip this week.
Last Friday, it was officially announced Meghan would bring the children and she would join Harry at an engagement.
But days later after apparently learning they had lost a security review admitted plans for Meghan, Archie and Lilibet were being reassessed.
The Sun also revealed that Harry will take his children to Althorp, in Northants, for their visit to the final resting place of his late mother, Princess Diana.
The Security Concerns at the Heart of the Visit
The ongoing security row has become a central issue in the planning of the visit. Harry’s request for enhanced protection has been rejected, leading to uncertainty about the trip. The situation has highlighted the complexities of balancing royal status, public funding, and personal safety for the Sussexes.
The security concerns have practical implications for the visit’s arrangements. The couple’s desire for appropriate protection for themselves and their children reflects their responsibility as parents. The challenges of navigating these issues while maintaining family connections demonstrate the difficulties they face.

The Potential Family Reunion
The potential meeting between Harry and King Charles has been seen as an important opportunity for family reconciliation. The King has not seen his grandchildren since 2022, making this visit potentially significant for family relationships. The strict conditions reportedly agreed upon suggest both sides are approaching the meeting with caution and a desire to avoid further public complications.
The situation with the planned July trip highlights how these issues continue to affect the Sussexes’ ability to return to the UK. The security row and family dynamics make any visit complicated. The potential for Archie and Lilibet to meet their grandfather has been one of the more positive aspects of the planned trip, making the security complications particularly frustrating.

Public Interest in the Royal Family
The ongoing drama surrounding Harry’s visit has generated significant public interest. The combination of security concerns, family reconciliation efforts, and the potential for a meeting between the brothers has created considerable anticipation. The royal family’s private discussions and the public speculation reflect the intense interest in their relationships.
The contrast between William’s focus on duty and Harry’s more independent path has created a compelling narrative that continues to captivate audiences. The potential for any interaction during the visit will be closely watched by both the media and the public.
The Sandringham Agreement Context
The reported arrangements have prompted renewed discussion about the Sandringham Agreement reached after the Sussexes stepped back as working royals in 2020. The agreement established clear boundaries about the couple’s ability to combine royal duties with commercial activities. The possibility of Harry and Meghan being treated as “cherished members of the Royal Family” when in the UK while maintaining their commercial activities in America represents a potential new approach to their unique situation.

Looking Ahead to the July Visit
As the July visit approaches, the coming weeks will likely bring more clarity about the final arrangements. Harry’s determination to find a safe way for his family to visit Britain demonstrates his desire to maintain connections with his home country and facilitate relationships between his children and their British relatives.
The Invictus Games-related engagements remain important to him, but the family aspect of the trip has become increasingly uncertain due to the security situation. The coming days are likely to bring further clarity about whether the full family visit will go ahead or if alternative arrangements will be made.
The situation continues to highlight the complex challenges facing the Sussexes as they navigate their life away from royal duties while attempting to maintain family ties. Security, privacy, and public interest all play significant roles in shaping their decisions about returning to Britain.
