Meghan Markle reveals Prince Harry’s advice which got her through ‘really hard days’

Meghan Markle says a piece of advice from Prince Harry that he learned during his time in the Army helped her get through “really hard days”
The Duchess of Sussex made her first public appearance since her recent trip to the UK at a special screening of Girl Scout documentary, Cookie Queens, in Los Angeles. She and Harry are executive producers of the documentary – and in her first public outing in months, Meghan took part in a Q&A session with the documentary’s producer, Alysa Nahmias.
During the session, Meghan, who turns 45 next week, was asked about how she deals with life’s ‘tough moments’ and revealed she likes to think of a quote that husband Harry shared with her from his 10 years in the British Army.

She told the audience: “I think so much of it, funny enough, I was thinking about something my husband told me ages ago, because we all go through experiences and life is full of surprises.
“But, you know, he was a helicopter pilot in the British Army for ten years. And sometimes on really hard days, he was like, ‘My love, you know, even if there’s a storm happening, above the storm, the sun’s always shining.’ And that’s a perspective that only comes from zooming out a little bit.”
Meghan has seemingly been keeping a low profile in recent months, with her last public outing coming when she travelled to Switzerland in May to give a speech on online abuse.

However, just last week, she shared a glimpse of her family trip to the UK earlier this month – including a visit to the stately home where the late Princess Diana is buried.
The Duchess of Sussex revealed that she, Prince Harry and their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet visited Althorp – the Spencer family home – on their trip to the UK last month.
It came as she posted a series of snaps to her 4.7million Instagram followers with the caption ‘Summer Holiday’, with the carousel of 12 pictures including several taken at the Northamptonshire estate, now run by Harry’s uncle and Diana’s younger brother, Earl Spencer.
In one picture, Lilibet, five, is seen walking through the home’s famous tree-lined gardens, while Harry and seven-year-old Archie walk ahead carrying bouquets of flowers.

Diana, the grandmother Harry’s children never got to meet following her untimely death aged 36 in 1997, is buried on an island in the middle of the Oval Lake at Althorp, which is inaccessible to the public but can be visited by family. In his memoir Spare, Harry talks about visiting his mother’s final resting place and taking Meghan there for the first time on the 25th anniversary of Diana’s death.
Other photos posted by Meghan and set to the Cliff Richard tune ‘Summer Holiday’, show the Sussexes in swimwear spending time at the beach, as well as Harry throwing his daughter up in the air as they play in a swimming pool and enjoying time in Portugal, where they had been enjoying a holiday before heading to the UK.

However, the string of pictures did not contain any photos of the Sussexes’ family reunion with the King and Queen at Highgrove two weeks ago.
Harry and Meghan took their children to see their grandfather at his country retreat for the first time in four years earlier this month after the Duke previously said his security arrangements in the UK made it too dangerous to bring his family to his home country. The children had last seen their grandfather on their previous visit to the UK for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.
Harry had planned to bring his family to the UK while he undertook a week-long series of events earlier this month, promoting charities and organisations close to his heart including the Invictus Games he founded.
Security issues prevented Meghan and the children from travelling with him to London, but it appears concerns over safety were mitigated to allow the visit to Highgrove, as well as Althorp, to take place later in the week.
