Curtis Jones is reportedly edging closer to leaving Liverpool for Inter Milan, with negotiations between the two clubs continuing after weeks of discussions over a potential transfer.

The England international has been linked with a move away from Anfield for much of the summer, and it now appears that a deal could finally be completed. Inter are believed to be prepared to pay around £30 million for the midfielder, while Liverpool are considering an offer that could reach that figure once additional payments are included.

According to reports, the Italian club have proposed an initial fee of approximately £26.7 million, with a further £4 million available through performance-related add-ons. The agreement would also reportedly include a 10 per cent sell-on clause, meaning Liverpool could receive another significant payment if Jones is eventually transferred elsewhere.

Inter had already shown their determination to sign the midfielder earlier in the summer. Their initial offer, believed to have been worth around £21 million, was rejected by Liverpool. However, the Serie A champions have continued negotiations and now appear to be close to reaching an agreement.

For Jones, a move to Italy would represent a major change after spending almost his entire football career at Liverpool.

The midfielder joined the club at just nine years old and progressed through the academy before making his senior debut. He eventually became an established member of the first-team squad and has enjoyed some memorable moments in a Liverpool shirt.

Although Jones has shown flashes of quality, injuries and competition for places have prevented him from becoming an undisputed starter.

That situation appears to have encouraged the 24-year-old to consider a new challenge abroad.

Jones has reportedly been attracted to the possibility of playing in Serie A for some time. A transfer to Inter would give him the opportunity to experience a different style of football while potentially taking on a more prominent role in one of Europe’s biggest clubs.
